Universal Account Number (UAN)

UAN (Universal Account Number) is a unique 12-digit number assigned to each employee for managing their PF account throughout their career.

What is UAN?

UAN is a unique identifier that remains constant throughout an employee's career, even when changing jobs. It helps in consolidating multiple PF accounts and tracking PF balance.

How to Get UAN?

  • UAN is automatically generated when an employer registers an employee for PF
  • Employer provides UAN to the employee
  • UAN can be found on the payslip or PF statement
  • Employees can also check UAN on the EPFO portal using PAN, Aadhaar, or bank account

UAN Activation

  1. Visit the EPFO Unified Portal
  2. Click on "Activate UAN"
  3. Enter UAN, Aadhaar, PAN, or bank account details
  4. Verify mobile number and email
  5. Set password
  6. UAN is activated and ready to use
